Dog & Cat Urine Removal and Artificial Grass Clean

Dog and cat urine is one of the biggest hidden problems for artificial grass. The lawn can look perfectly clean, but pet urine contains uric acid, which is not water-soluble, so hosing the grass down never fully removes it. Over time it soaks through the pile and collects in the infill and backing, and as it breaks down it gives off a strong ammonia smell that gets worse in warm or damp weather. Pet hair and fur work their way into the pile too, along with the bacteria that feed on the soiling. The result is a lawn that looks fine from a distance but smells, feels matted underfoot, and is far from hygienic for a family and their pets to enjoy.

Staying on top of it takes more than a hose and a stiff brush. For this job we used our full pet deep-clean process:

• Enzyme-based cleaners to break down the uric acid and odour at the source rather than just masking it, so the smell does not simply return a day or two later.
• Wet and dry vacuum to lift the soiling out of the pile and pull out the trapped hair and fur fibres an ordinary brush leaves behind.
• Power brushing to lift the flattened pile back up and release the smells held down in it.
• Astro VAX to put crisp, even lines back into the grass and leave the whole lawn looking complete, fresh and like new.
